New 7 Wonders of the World:

The Statue of the Christ, the Redeemer is elected one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
The magnificent 38 meters soapstone statue of Jesus with opened arms is certainly the most famous Brazilian monument.
Concluded in 1931, the statue was allocated the top to the Corcovado Mountain in order to demonstrate the hospitality of the Brazilian people to the thousands of immigrants that used to arrive from all parts of the world at the Rio de Janeiro harbor.
Hence, it is, above all, a sign of peace and human cordiality.
